As if you needed another reason to get out and make your mark in the world, here's some inspiration!

Earlier this spring, LoHud.com shined a spotlight on 10 local teens who, when faced with the coronavirus pandemic, decided to turn challenges into opportunities.

From 3D-printing personal protective equipment for healthcare workers to teaming up with NBA stars in hosting fundraiser tournaments, these teens—who all hail from Westchester and Rockland Counties—are making waves.

Just look at 15-year-old Christopher Barnaby. After realizing that most food donations to hospitals were occurring during the day, the Dobbs Ferry student formed Friends4Frontlines with two of his pals. The group, which officially completed its mission in mid-May, worked hard to deliver meals to the night staff at local hospitals who often missed out on the generous meals and treats that were donated in the daytime.

In just a month, Friends4Frontlines—which had an original goal of $2,000—was able to raise a whopping $10,400 and deliver over 1,300 meals to five hospitals while supporting local businesses in Greenburgh, White Plains, Valhalla, Elmsford and Tarrytown.

It was tough work, but Barnaby didn't mind the late-night runs. "We're glad that we've been able to make a difference in our local community," he said.
