Caring for the Homeless of Peekskill

The mission of Caring for the Homeless of Peekskill Inc. (CHOP) is to alleviate hunger and homelessness in our community by providing temporary housing for homeless adults, and by referring clients to appropriate agencies in order to help them attain independent living.

Hope Community Service

Since its early days, HOPE has grown to become the largest emergency food pantry and soup kitchen in the region. Although HOPE Community Services was founded to respond to hunger in the community, it quickly became apparent that food was not the only thing our clients were lacking. Clothing, language skills, emotional support, immigration services, and other daily necessities were also needed. HOPE Community Services expanded its services to meet the needs of its diverse client population.

Soup Angels

Soup Angels is an all-volunteer non-denominational group of service-minded individuals currently operating under the non-profit status of First Reformed Church of Nyack, New York. We serve dinner every Wednesday at 5:30PM at the Church. The entrance is on Burd St. between South Broadway and Cedar and there is access for persons with disabilities. Among our guests are elderly persons seeking a meal and companionship, the working poor and their families and those who are homeless.

The Center offers programs and resources designed to meet the educational, recreational, cultural and civic services for children, youth and adults, with a particular focus on meeting the needs of underserved youth.
